There are more than 350,000 seven-inch 45 rpm vinyl singles at the ARC - not all catalogued or sorted to our satisfaction. So finding singles from other cultures is a bit of a chore. Here's what we've come up with from our collection.
To start things off, have a look at this Mad Men era example of marketing genius from Armstrong Tile. Vinyle = vinyl. Get it? OK, maybe one of them is chock full of asbestos, but someone related the size and composition of their product and made enough of a leap to commission the "Driftstone Bossa Nova" and create this promo package. As the backside text suggests, you play this record, press down your new tile floor, toss this platter on the Dansette, and throw a dance party. Makes sense to me.
